Omega Seamaster 300 ref. 165.014: how to read a documented 1967 example

Reference ST 165.014 on this example is a Seamaster 300 with straight lugs, a stainless-steel case of approximately 38 mm without the crown and a thin rotating bezel. The black dial follows the 3-6-9-12 layout with luminous markers, and the outer case back carries the Seamaster hippocampus engraving.

The crown is Omega-signed and the crystal is acrylic, also signed, with the Ω symbol at its centre.

The inside of the case back is stamped 165014, Omega Watch Co., HF and Acier Staybrite. A stamped number that matches the watch reference is the first check: it confirms that case and case back belong to the model. HF identifies the case maker.

The watch runs on the Omega automatic calibre 552, with 24 jewels. It comes with an Omega Extract from the Archives, issued on 8 June 2022, which records the production date, 11 January 1967, and the country of delivery, Malta.

The movement number matches the one on the Extract. That is what lets you confirm that the movement and the document belong to the same watch.

On this example the bezel is heavily worn and most of its scale is gone, although the luminous pip at 12 remains. The case shows scratches, marks and evidence of previous polishing; the acrylic crystal is scratched, and the dial and hands show visible patina. No cosmetic restoration has been carried out.

Service history is unknown, so a mechanical inspection is advisable before intensive use, and water resistance is neither tested nor guaranteed. The original steel bracelet is not included: the watch comes on an aftermarket black leather strap with an additional beige NATO strap.
