Longines vintage manual-wind wristwatch, reference 7629-1, dating from the 1960s and powered by the Longines calibre 701 mechanical movement. This is a particularly attractive example of classic mid-century Longines design, combining a stainless-steel case of approximately 34 mm with a silver sunburst dial, applied baton hour markers and a framed date aperture at 3 o'clock. The restrained dial layout is complemented by slim polished hands, a central seconds hand and the applied Longines winged hourglass emblem. The relatively narrow bezel and straight lugs give the watch an elegant wrist presence typical of Longines dress watches of the period. Inside is the Longines calibre 701, a Swiss manual-winding mechanical movement with 17 jewels. The movement is correctly signed LONGINES SWISS, calibre 701, and carries serial number 13,701,768. The inside of the stainless-steel caseback is also correctly signed LONGINES, FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE and bears case reference 7629-1. Specifications: - Brand: Longines - Reference: 7629-1 - Period: 1960s - Movement: Mechanical, manual winding - Calibre: Longines 701 - Jewels: 17 - Movement serial number: 13,701,768 - Case: Stainless steel - Diameter: approx. 33.8 mm excluding crown - Dial: Silver sunburst - Hour markers: Applied baton indices - Functions: Hours, minutes, central seconds and date - Date window: 3 o'clock - Crown: Signed Longines crown - Crystal: Domed acrylic - Strap: Brown leather strap - Buckle: Signed Longines buckle Condition: The watch is presented in honest vintage condition, showing the character expected from a watch of this age. The silver dial retains an attractive sunburst finish and clearly defined printing and applied markers. It shows visible age-related patina, including small spots, marks and areas of discolouration, particularly around the lower half of the dial and the date aperture. These details are clearly visible in the close-up photographs. The stainless-steel case shows surface scratches and signs of previous use, particularly on the polished bezel, case sides and lugs. The overall shape and proportions of the case remain well defined. The movement presents cleanly for its age and all identifying engravings, including the calibre and serial number, remain clearly legible. The brown leather strap shows previous use and gives the watch an attractive vintage appearance. It is fitted with a signed Longines buckle. The photographs form an important part of the description and have deliberately been taken at close range to show the condition, dial, movement, crown, case and caseback in detail. From a private collection. No original box or papers are included. Given the age of the watch, no guarantee of water resistance is provided and contact with water is not recommended. The watch will be carefully packaged and shipped registered, tracked and fully insured.
